I started Irmo Marketing in 2008 and have run marketing in-house ever since, usually as the first or most senior marketer in the building. I have led teams of up to ten, owned budgets past $5M, and built the plumbing that connects spend to pipeline: CRM, attribution, dashboards and the handoff to sales.
Today I am Marketing Director at Gordon Law Group and Gordon Tax in Chicago, and I take on select consulting engagements through Clicking Awesome: strategy, marketing leadership on a part-time basis, AI operations and the occasional brand or website build. The work I like most is the messy middle: a company that has outgrown founder-led marketing but is not ready for a full executive hire.
I write about zero-click marketing, answer engine optimization and the practical side of AI in marketing teams. I live in Barrington, Illinois.
Every program is judged by what sales can close from it. Activity metrics come second.
Website, CRM, tracking and definitions get fixed first. Campaigns on a broken base waste money.
Documentation, hiring plans and training, so the function keeps running after the engagement.
I still build pages, write copy, configure HubSpot and cut video when the team needs it.
